Kentucky State University Men's Basketball legend Gerald Cunningham was honored by the Kentucky State General Assembly and Governor on February 16 and KSU and the City of Frankfort on February. 50 years ago in 1974, he led the Thorobreds to a third-place finish in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics by being the first man to lead the tournament in scoring and rebounding the same year. He left as the second-leading scorer and rebounders (2635/1304) in KSU history and was a four-year All-American. He was inducted into the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame earlier in the season.
